“Dance Los Angeles, Dance,” beckoned Woven Bone’s lead singer Andy. There were exultations from the stage at Spaceland, from the band’s serving of garage/surfer lo-fi, hi-noise rock, unapologetic even if it were a Thursday night and you had to get up early the next day. The Texas (Tejas) trio provides a minimalist approach to your musical needs – a partial drum kit, guitar, bass, three amps and a whole lot of screaming. Sure, there are the pedals and the dancing, the double vocals – so there’s a laundry list of extras, but songs like “I’ve Gotta Get” surfs high on a continuous wave of simple and keeping it that way. Wove Bones have themselves a new 7” from Hardly Art and a new LP is due sometime in the near future (near being 2011). Woven Bones crank and pulse in a different way than most noise rockers – it’s the stop/go motion, incredibly unpredictable, yet so simple you wonder why no one ever thought of visiting it before.
