Thao Nguyen - We Brave Bee Stings and All

Thao Nguyen's voice is the organic orange juice to the ears.

She's sweet, good for you and though she may have a few hiccups or seeds, her music gives hope in a world of high fructose corn syrup music.

Almost a goodnight lullaby - so, what dream does this album weave?

Accompanied by The Get Down Stay Down, Thao's voice is complemented by banjos and every other stringed instrument under the sun. Songs like "Violet" and "We Brave Bee Stings and All" won't blow your mind away, but do manage to capture some type of happiness in a jar - it's an upper, but without the need for a pill. Overall themes of growing up and girls being... you guessed it BRAVE, well it'll put anyone in a great mood. Being a female vocalist in this day and age, Nguyen may run into the comparisons to a Canadian songstress with a name that rhymes with "Meist." Indie/Folk sounds like a redundant statement, but the horns and the strings all seem to make this a theory best left to the individual. In fact, why not have a drink of some of this music, while doing some super happy, non-drug related activities.
