Múm - Go Go Spread the Poison Ivy
Múm’s newest album creates an expression without much effort – something few other albums can do within the first two minutes of the opener.
Not noticing, the accordion becomes the keeper of rhythm and the dreary tone becomes a translucent signal of hope in a very dark corridor on the song “A little bit, Sometimes.” The heavy synth or percussions often drown out the angelic vocals, but they make their way back to the surface. And the disembodied vocals do well when they are not so neatly put together. Instead this band shines on tracks like “Dancing Behind My Eyelids,” where the electronic and folks sounds meet in a fairly dreamlike state. Where previous album “Summer Make Good” had a bit too much free time exploring the periphery of some dreamlike state, Go Go invites us deeper into an instrumental stroll through the park – late at night when ambience is key.
