Tuesday, August 21, 2007 – The Echo

When a band has a record release party, they play you what they have on their record. When Foreign Born has a record release party, for “On the Wing Now,” they open up with their song “Union Hall.” The song already sounds like an epic revolutionary anthem, sung at the ending of a movie. But the guys from the band had to do something special at the Echo, so they invited Bulgarian A’capella choir Nevenka to sing opening chorus. Bulgarian choir aside, the band humbly won the crowd over with their jaunt excursion into acoustic guitar, big guitar, a few synth chords and some down right hypnotic rhythm. As a debut album "On the Wing Now" is a great piece of work. Live, it was even better. The guys took off stage, where the crowd shouted for an encore and Foreign Born did just that.
