Be sure to check that box next to “sultry songstress” for Nicole Atkins who packed The Echo on Friday, 10/15/10, her voice ricocheting between upbeat pop and lounge singer the entire set. There were some songs from her Neptune City LP, but material from Atkins’ new album, Mondo Amore, bubbled to the surface and commandeered the show. Songs like “You Were The Devil” which touched multiple genres or “Cry, Cry, Cry” a sinister frolic through the R&B daisies, both wowed and sold the audience on what Atkins is doing with her sound. She also didn’t pull any too-good-for-my-old-stuff on stage and finished with “Neptune City.”
Mondo Amore, Nicole Atkins' newest album, sees the light of day January 25, 2011 on Razor & Tie Records.
