There’s an ethereal persona behind Porcelain Raft, the one-man show from Mauro Remiddi, guitar at his wait, mixing switches to his left hand and the gaping hole of eternity just right behind him. Porcelain Raft is the crooked horizon of a person slowly drifting into madness. No, not the foaming at the mouth nonsense, but more like the subdued crazy of say Hannibal Lecter or Syd Barret – modest to a certain degree but still obvious.

I hope Thom Yorke doesn’t mind Remiddi channeling him while he soars with his own haunting falsetto voice. Fans of Cass McCombs, Ed Vallance and Mr. Yorke will find much to like of Porcelain Raft.

Porcelain Raft performed at the Satellite on 04-13-11
