In the land of teenagers, emo is king. Avant-Garde band Desperation Squad learned this the hard way at Pomona’s Warped Tour stop. The Pomona based band got bottles, shoes and trashcans thrown at them. The band was playing in the Hurley.com stage and was set to go on. A crowd of fans began to gather. Desperation Squad stepped on stage to the shock of the crowd. They were fans alright, but the majority of them were fans of Escape the Fate. The crowds had gotten the stages mixed up.

Escape the Fate was scheduled to play at the same time as Desperation Squad, but on the Hurley stage. What a difference a .com makes. Riled up teenagers expecting to see their favorite band instead got an intelligent helping of Avant-Garde. Desperation Squad got to play a few songs, but no words of reason would make the crowd settle down. It was a mini-riot. One of our photographers got a trashcan thrown at him. Other people walked away without shoes, because they threw them in anger. Mr. P, lead singer of Desperation Squad said, “The Warped Tour guys think we did it deliberately, but how do you plan on kids throwing trash on stage?” Afterwards the crowds left, people picked trash out of their hair and the Warped Tour went on.
