Smashed Chair
Day 2

New Collapse – Like a meeting of Devo and a golden cat, New Collapse opened up Day Two of the F*ck Yeah Festival. Their style is heavy synth induced punk, with a mix of theatrics.

Abe Vigoda – Hailing all the way from Chino, California, these guys are some of the greatest noise bands around. A guitar string was broken, some apologies were mentioned, but the fans didn’t seem to care. A new guitar was found and Abe Vigoda kept on playing. More people cheered and madness ensued.

Great Northern – The band hadn’t even gotten through half of their set and a fan was screaming like there was no tomorrow. Of course she was cheering the band on. Rachel, lead singer of Great Northern said, “Who is that? Come on up here, cause you’re making it all better.” Great Northern are one of the few mellow bands that you can scream at and they won’t get mad at you.

Triclops – You can tell the guys from Triclops listened to a lot of Iron Maiden in their days, but opted for the punk route instead. The energy was there, but it was too early in the day for anyone to catch the contagious force that was a guy spinning on the floor.

xBxRx – Purpled Punk Psychosis is what this band is about. The jilting the fans do for these guys is something to behold; they’d probably go crazy for this band even if they were not wearing matching purple shirts. They represented Oakland, but they fucking rocked the Echo.

Midnight Movies – If you found yourself at the Rec Center on Sunday you might have caught some of the amazing psychedelic styling of Midnight Movies. You had to touch your mouth a few times, because you would catch yourself smiling and everyone knows you can’t smile at a show like this! People might think you’re not cool.

Foreign Born – Playing a select few hits from their debut album, these guys managed to fit about eight or nine people on stage at once with their climactic “Union Hall.”
